Dimensioning weighing scanning – everything at a glance
The volume, weight and barcodes of your parcels are acquired and analysed simultaneously by the DWS system. The three components of the DWS system undertake the most important tasks related to the acquisition of data on your letters and parcels in the smallest space. Several cameras or laser systems obtain the exact dimensions of the letters and parcels. During this process, objects with dimensions of 50 x 50 x 50 mm are registered in exactly the same way as large objects that measure 2,000 x 1,000 x 1,600 mm. The catchweighers use the calculated volume of the parcel in conjunction with the weight measured to assign the parcel to a defined class. The scanner then collects barcodes or 2D codes with addresses, franking or other parameters, checking them for correctness if necessary. The DWS system is suitable for a wide range of applications and consistently undertakes it’s task despite chaotic product sequences.
The information is then transferred to a central data management system and is used by the system as the basis for making decisions, such as the sorting function or whether the franking is correct. Data can then be read and analysed at your convenience. This makes it possible to automatically record the type and number of letters and parcels whilst preparing a cost breakdown for your client.
Even unusual parcel sizes and shapes are acquired
Bulky freight must also be checked for the relevant measurements in order to determine accurate transport costs incurred. To avoid time-wasting the "Irregular DWS System" collects the volume and weight of unusual parcels in a semi-automatic mode.
The system scans objects with a weight of up to 150 kg and dimensions up to 2,500 x 1,600 x 1,200 mm precisely. Maximum belt speeds of up to 2.9 metres per second permit smooth, fast operation.
Catchweighers for perfect sorting and completeness checks
Parcel weighing with a double scale offers maximum efficiency. The two weighing belts are connected in order to weigh parcels simultaneously, or used together to simulate a third virtual scale to determine the weight of large parcels. The technology yields short distances between the parcels and the weighing of unsorted parcel sequences. The HC Letterscale is particularly suitable for weighing letters. Small weighing systems determine the weight of vertically transported letters in a matter of seconds and transmit the information to letter sorting machines, which can be integrated.
Reliable determination of the weight is also used for the completeness check on your letters and parcels. For instance, our system checks for quality assurance of outgoing letters from banks and insurance companies.”
Reliable determination of the weight is also used for the completeness check on your letters and parcels. For instance, our system checks for quality assurance of outgoing letters from banks and insurance companies. Our solutions can determine the exact number of pages in a letter, or detect if a cheque card is missing, using the measured weight. The system immediately separates out letters with the wrong weight and documents them.
Flexible catchweighers for all needs
The flexible systems can be adapted exactly to your needs and offer precise weighing despite varying gradients or minimal space. Letters are transported vertically using a single or multiple lane to increase the throughputs. The width and length of the conveyors can be regulated as well as the operating heights of the devices. Regardless of whether you want to send small, light letters and parcels or large, heavy letters and parcels, the systems from WIPOTEC-OCS are exactly matched to your needs.
For tight timeframes: The fastest letter scale in the world
Scanning rates of only one millisecond make it possible to measure precise results in the shortest amount of time. This aspect permits minimised product spacing and an optimal throughput. During this process, letters are transported vertically to achieve maximum speeds of up to 4 metres per second. If the issue is the smallest weight differences, Active Vibration Compensation (AVC) technology contributes to filtering of interfering vibration and achieves exact measured results at lightning speed, even in difficult environments. An international postal service provider uses the fastest approved letter scale in the world, manufactured by WIPOTEC-OCS, to identify unfranked post.

The weight and franking on the letters is compared 60,000 times an hour using the scale and scanner. If the postage on a letter is insufficient, the letter is separated out. The senders of letters with insufficient postage are subsequently charged. Thanks to the technology of WIPOTEC-OCS, the service provider can avoid huge financial losses.
